You also have to remember some key terms which are usually used in place of north or south. “Mauka” means “toward the mountain” and “Makai” means “toward the ocean”. Due to sandy beaches, some naive or unaware drivers get stuck in the sand. So if you are driving on the road which is close to the beach, don’t think that you can engulf  an obstacle by driving in the sand.
